Willie Tonga was unconscious in a Townsville Disco just a few days before he received a final call to rows in the Australia Squadron.
Shane Robert Alexander, 23, pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly conduct in the Court of magistrates of Townsville later Thursday that he rey-hit Tonga in the tavern of Flinders St this mad cow in the early hours of May 2.
The next day, Cowboys management denied that Tonga had been attacked. On Thursday, the club maintained his silence, saying that the matter had been resolved by the courts and there was nothing that could add.
Tonga had a large cut on his eyebrow when he took his flight to the Gold Coast on 5 May to participate in the camp of kangaroos before the race of the day of Anzac against New Zealand.
Tax Police Constable Lisa Lindenmayer told the Court that before they came to Tonga and spoke to him, Alexander drank in mad cow disease. Not was revealed in court what was said between the couple.
"The accused has then hit the witness (Tonga) to the face with a clenched right fist, causing him to immediately fall unconscious backwards," said.
"The defendant has then immediately left the witness on the ground and tried to leave the facilities and was stopped by security."
Alexander was fined $400 and banned the campus of Flinders St nightclub during a year of the attack, despite lawyer Ron Hinds duty object to the order.
Judge Peter Smid decided the seriousness of the incident and the history of Anderson's similar offences was sufficient to justify the ban.
