Five other languages are currently struggling to get tested by the Ministry of education, according to an official of the promotion of indigenous languages of Zimbabwe (ZILP). Minister Coltart had agreed that Tonga proved by his Ministry at the level of grade seven at the end of this year, the official said.
This occurred after several consultations were held by people of Binga who asked why their language was marginalized. An estimated one million people used the daily language in that region.
The official said that the language would be tested under the regulation of ZIMSEC which regulates all examinations in the country.
"We also want other languages be recognised by the Government." I can actually say that other languages like Venda, Tonga, Kalanga and Nambu have been fighting for recognition and the Ministry has agreed in Tonga this year. "As you know language unites people and culture".
The Tonga recently held a sample of some of their greatest songs in the coffee book - a popular place for artists of UNESCO in Harare.
The event counted with the participation of more than 100 bursts invited, including first, Chiwoniso Maraire, Busi Ncube of the rain of the band and the first Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of Austria, Rainer Sulzberger.
